Nets vs Celtics

Merry Christmas! Along with the trees, decorations, and big guy in the red suit, there is one other tradition.  Christmas Day basketball!  The first game of the day is a new rivalry between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets.  The last time these two teams met, it got ugly.  We all remember the pushing fight between Rajon Rondo and Mr. Kim Kardashian, I mean Kris Humphries.

Boston comes to Brooklyn and is looking to end a five road game losing streak and they have already lost to Brooklyn in both match-ups.    Both of these teams are desperate for a win.  Paul Pierce thinks this could be the game to start turning things around.  Kris Humphries is also looking to get things going for himself as he was replaced in the starting line up on Sunday by Keith Bogans.

I cannot imagine Brooklyn sweeping the Celtics this year and the Celtics are much better in big game situations.  I think the Celtics will take this one, but not by much.  Christmas Game 1- Brooklyn or Boston, who you takin?

Here is the footage from tonight’s Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics game of the fight that broke between Rajon Rondo and Kris Humphries.  Apparently, it all started when Kris Humphries appeared to push Kevin Garnett and Rondo got in his face to defend his teammate.  Winner of this fight?  I would have to give it to Rondo, even though the Celtics lost the fight, he definitely held his own against a guy who has some serious height on him.  Humphries should really just stick to fighting with his soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Kardashian.  That seems to be more of a fair fight and people might actually want him to win.

It is one of the biggest stages in the entire world. Everyone from Madonna to Bruce Springsteen to Britney Spears has performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. So who is getting the honor this year? It is none other than the leader of the ‘Single Ladies’ movement, Beyonce Knowles. I cannot imagine that too many single ladies are really interested in watching the Super Bowl. However, she will bring a highly energized performance. It will officially be confirmed tomorrow. Maybe hubby Jay-Z will make an appearance. Who doesn’t love them together honestly? To get a preview of what to expect, below his a video of her latest performance with her husband in Brooklyn at the Barclays.

Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard. What happened to you? It makes me angry that I used to think that you were one of the most dominant players in the league, but now your attitude just ruins everything. No one wants to deal with your drama nor hear you cry about not wanting to play for a city that adored you. People would kill to be in your shoes and you go around making public demands about where YOU want to play. When did this become the National Dwight Howard Association? I must have missed that memo. Be grateful that you are able to play a game that you say you love and get paid VERY well. I would trade spots with you in a heartbeat and I know I am not alone in saying that. If I were the GM of the Orlando Magic, I would just drop him and let him get a reality check. He is becoming a negative energy on that team anyway. The Magic might not be the most talented team out there, but having one of their teammates and superstars out there trashing them is not gonna make the situation any better. So as of this point, I am done with Dwight Howard and all the drama that he brings to this league. As far as I am concerned, he belongs in the WNBA.

To go along with their new arena and new city, the former New Jersey Nets have gotten a new logo. Long gone are the blue and red designs and vintage black and white is back in. The black and white and a tribute to the old subway signage systems. “The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction. Along with our move to Brooklyn and a state-of-the-art arena, the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team.” This is all great for the Nets and their organization, however, none of this is going to make them a better team. Isn’t competing and winning the whole point of a sports team? What is changing the venue going to when your superstar point guard, Dereon Williams, probably won’t even play as a Brooklyn Net there. Will they compete any time in the future? Definitely not. The East is way too stacked with talent and all this glitz and glamour is just a mirage because they are lacking talent. Maybe they should put all this energy into trying to retain Williams who is the one who will bring them to a championship.

It must be nice to have friends in high places. Just ask Jay-Z who was at the New Jersey Nets-Miami Heat. He took his nephew, Beyonce’s sister’s son Daniel to the game. Afterwards little man got the VIP treatment when Lebron James handed over his extra wide headband [face it Lebron we all know you are balding I don’t understand why you just cannot accept it] along with the sneakers he wore during the game. Talk about Uncle of the Year! Once again, it must be nice.
