There is word spreading that former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen is working on a reality show. It will be based on his and wife Larsa’s life as “Chicago royalty” and the crazy antics that both of their families bring to the table. The supposed title for the show is “Big Pippen” which I already hate, but I have a few other issues with this show.
First of all, Larsa was on the first season of the Real Housewives of Miami. She wasn’t asked back for the second season. What does that tell you? Clearly, they are not ‘reality gold’. Also she was shooting in MIAMI not Chicago, so to call them a power couple in Chicago is clearly wrong. They don’t even spend all their days there. People from Chicago will find them fraudulent.
Second of all, I think that this is just a way for Scottie to repair his public image in Chicago and all across the country. Pippen came under fire a few years back after saying that Lebron James was better than Michael Jordan. I don’t know if Pippen hit his head, but it was Michael that helped you get all those rings. It was Michael that put the Bulls on the map. You have to give credit to the man who was standing next to you on the court. There has to be some kind of loyalty there and Scottie clearly broke that with his comment.
I know I will not be watching this show. I think that this will only hurt Pippen’s reputation and that it is time for athletes to stop thinking that everything needs to be filmed. There is something magical about not knowing what your favorite athlete does on a daily basis. Doesn’t everyone try to imagine what a day in the life of Michael Jordan or Derek Jeter is like? I know I do!
