What started as trash talking on the court, has spiraled into all kinds of real life drama. On Monday night, the Boston Celtics played the New York Knicks and words were exchanged throughout the entire game between Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett. Part of Garnett’s game is psychological by trying to get into a player’s mind. Needless to say, Melo was having an off night and KG’s words started to affect him. Apparently KG made a comment about Anthony’s wife along the lines of, [your wife] “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios”. Not the most clever line by KG, but it clearly worked because Anthony got so mad after that he waited for Garnett to walk out of Boston’s tunnel onto the team bus.
This resulted in Melo being suspended for a game, but the news that is coming out now, is even more revealing. It looked like Melo was not fully present at the game, like he had his mind elsewhere. Rumors are swirling that Melo and his wife Lala are currently on a break after they hit a rough patch in their marriage. The split reportedly happened about two months ago. The two have yet to comment on the split rumors, but it seems like this would make the most sense. Together or not, at least we get a brand new season of Lala’s Full Court Life! Don’t get too excited.
The head butt that just can’t seem to go away. Every day there is a new story about Chad Johnson and his now ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. One day she is filing for divorce and then he is getting a tattoo of her on his leg and then he is filing for divorce and then they are officially divorced, how can anyone keep up with all this?
Well it seems like the end is near. Johnson struck a plea deal and will not face any jail time. He agreed to plead no contest to the charge of domestic battery. He was sentenced to a year of probation and mandatory anger management and a batterers intervention program. So basically he got a slap on the wrist for giving a woman a head butt. However, it does appear that Johnson’s NFL career could be over since he is not worth all the drama that he brings along. I think he has a better chance of getting back with Evelyn than getting another NFL contract.
It was the headbutt felt all around the football and reality television world. However, “victim” Evelyn Lozada has decided to break her silence. In her first interview since the entire headbutt incident, she does her best impression of a battered woman. She admits to still loving Johnson and that it was no one’s fault, he just made a very bad decision. The interview looks to be quite ridiculous. Most people do not even know who she is. She is portrayed on television as being an aggressive woman who is constantly fighting with someone. In one episode of the show, “Basketball Wives”, Lozada is seen jumping across a table to attack her former best friend Jennifer Williams. This entire thing just seems so fake and absurd. It is far too late for her to try and get the public on her side. These reality television stars need to learn that actual important life events do not HAVE to be discussed on television. That is not how normal people handle life. A preview of the interview, which airs tonight, is below.

So it seems as though Chad Johnson has officially hit rock bottom. His public image is destroyed, he is facing criminal charges, and he has lost his jobs and sources of income. What can he do now? Well the best advice would definitely have be to lay low. If he continues to be out in public, he has absolutely no hope of ever being liked or respected again. No one will ever know what really went down that night. All everyone knows is that somehow she got a huge gash on her forehead and he was arrested for causing it. Will he ever have another NFL contract? That is a very tough question. If he was still the Chad Johnson who made spectacular touchdown catches then I would without a doubt say yes. However, Johnson is not even a top receiver anymore. His production seems to have dropped dramatically. So he is not really worth all the bad publicity that would come along with signing him. My prediction for their future…. They will end up on a Couples Rehab program for reality television.
Maybe he should change his name back. Maybe he should get off reality television and focus on football. Either way, one thing is for sure, Chad Johnson, most famous for changing his name to Ochocinco (his jersey number) was arrested late last night for misdemeanor domestic battery. Johnson was recently married to his reality television girlfriend Evelyn Lozada on July 4th. Lozada stars on the VH1 show Basketball Wives and is most famous for, well I am not really sure. The alleged incident occurred when the couple was arguing and Johnson headbutted his wife. When cops arrived, Lozada did have a cut on her forehead. Johnson claims that the two just bumped heads accidentally. It seemed as though Johnson would be stuck in jail until Monday since no bail judges are working today, however it appears that he did receive a bond and could be out today. Oh, the couple is in the midst of promoting their new reality show together, Eve and Ocho. How is this one going to play into their “dramatic” plot line? Maybe, this was all a publicity stunt to get people interested in their lives together. I know that both are against doing things publicly, it’s not like the entire wedding was filmed or anything. Just when everyone (I mean no one) thought that this was the couple to defy all stereotypes about reality television couples.
